The 2015/16 seasons county championships was hosted by Berkhamsted Squash& Tennis Club and they were treated to some great squash! There was a good turn out particularly on the boys side.

There are some very talented junior squash players within Hertfordshire and with them involved in Herts Squash, the county is in a fortunate position but wouldn’t it be lovely to have more players competing in the county champs and get back up to the 180 entrants that Herts once had! The total entry this year was 90 players.

The winners and runners up are as follows:

U19 boys winner: Laurence Green
U19 boys runner up: Nick Rossiter
U19 girls winner: Grace Gear
U19 girls runner up: Sarah Scofield

U17 boys winner: Hasnaat Farooqi
U17 boys runner up: Bilal Ahmed
U17 girls winner: Amber Marshall
U17 girls runner up: Katie Birt

U15 boys winner: Jay Ledger
U15 boys runner up: Owen Ledger
U15 girls winner: Nyah Williams
U15 girls runner up: Chloe Spratt

U13 boys winner: Josh Ben
U13 boys runner up: Zan Farooqi
U13 girls winner: Ursula Keohane
U13 girls runner up: Ella Appleyard

It’s an exciting time for Herts Squash as they are working hard to create a new talent pathway that is being developed with Bedfordshire Squash in the form of the Chiltern Academy. To make it the most successful it can be it needs support from all and a thank you should go to the coaches to making good suggestions for candidates that would benefit from being part of this programme.

We would like to take this opportunity to thanks all the players and parents that entered the event to make the event the success it was and also a special thanks to Hugh Dunford who volunteered hours of his time to organise the event and manage on the day. Also to Julian Craxton for his help in the U9 and U11 champs. Finally, to SpecialWear for providing the gifts for this years event.

Keep squashing!!!!
